The role of the advisory groups is to support and promote the work of Library & Archives NT.
In late 2019 two of the Territory’s major collecting institutions, the Northern Territory Library and Northern Territory Archives Service joined forces to create a new organisation - Library & Archives NT – with the continuing aim to collect, preserve and share our rich and unique history and to support the Territory’s public library network.
The role of our advisory groups is to support and promote the work of Library & Archives NT.
Aboriginal Advisory Group (AAG)
Made up of community members, representatives from Link-Up services and Government representatives, the AAG’s focus is on facilitating access to NT Government records for Aboriginal people, particularly those undertaking Stolen Generations family history research, but will also provide advice to Library & Archives NT on other matters relating to our collections, services and programs.
Members are appointed for a three year term, and meet twice per annum. Read the Terms of Reference.
We are currently seeking two community members to join this Group for the 2020 - 2023 period, one person from the Top End and one from Central Australia. Participation by video-conference is supported, and membership of the group is for a three year term.
Community Reference Group (CRG)
Made up of community members from across the Territory, the CRG’s focus is to advise, support and promote the work in Library & Archives NT, particularly in the areas of collection development, community engagement and service provision.
Members are appointed for a three year team, and meet four times per annum. Read the Terms of Reference.
