The Northern Territory Library is the keeping place for important historic materials, preserving and digitising them for use by future generations.
The Northern Territory Library holds over 300,000 images, books, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, ephemera and audio-visual materials relating to the Northern Territory.
These collections are continuing to grow thanks to the generous donation of materials from current and former Territorians and their families.
The Library is a safe keeping place for these materials. With your permission, we store them safely, digitise them and aim to make them accessible online for future generations of researchers.
If you’re keen to keep the originals, you can donate a digital version only. We’ll digitise your materials, make a version accessible on our database and return the original to you.
We attribute all donated material to their donors. We can also offer a range of copyright arrangements which specify how you want your donations used into the future.
We also have a wealth of experience in the ethical management of cultural materials and can discuss these considerations with you before you make a donation.
By donating to us you are contributing to the preservation of the Territory’s stories and history.
