Description

A Territory Story is an exhibition surveying the people, places and events that have shaped the Territory.

Exploring the history of the Northern Territory across ten themes this exhibition takes you on a special journey. Acknowledging first that Darwin is situated on the traditional lands of the Larrakia people, the exhibition moves through the exploration and development of the Territory, tourism, the performing arts, Territory homes, Indigenous art, what it means to be a Territorian, a fond reflection on our capital city, and a unique timeline. Literary classics from the collection and a special library treasure are also on display.

As an interactive exhibition you can hear stories from individuals who made their mark on the Territory, or don the headphones and listen to classic songs which have shaped the Territory’s music industry.

Showing during Library opening hours, if you would like to know more about the development of the exhibition and the Library’s historical collections, we recommended attending one of our Curator Floor Talks
